Loading Dock Coordinator (Temporary)

Department: Purchasing
Location: Seattle, WA

Starting Pay Range: $21.30 - $22.56

Schedule:

We are actively seeking a temporary Loading Dock Coordinator to join the team for approximately 3 months. The Loading Dock Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all freight, parcels and packages received at or shipped from the Horizon House loading dock are handled and processed in accordance with Horizon House policies and procedures as well as federal and local regulations. This position also acts as a liaison between Building Services, Food Services, and other Horizon House personnel, and agency clinicians.

What You’ll Do

  • Verify receipt, sign for, log in, deliver or arrange for delivery/pick up of freight from multiple freight and supply companies such as but not limited to UPS, USPS, Fed Ex, and DHL to multiple departments throughout Horizon House.
  • Break down supplies/freight as it arrives.
  • Monitor dock activity and vehicle traffic arriving and departing from the loading dock.
  • Monitor, coordinate, schedule pick-up and return for the construction dumpster at the loading dock.
  • Monitor compost bin and recycle bins for schedule pick-ups.
  • Monitor loading dock bay area removal of old appliances, furniture, and donated items on a weekly basis.
  • Keep loading dock in a clean and presentable condition by, including but not limited to, sweeping, emptying trash, spray washing and other methods.
  • Assists as needed in trash compactor operation.
  • Train staff and contractors on operation of trash compactor.
  • Manage parking in dock area.
  • Manage office area to include but not limited to, filing and record keeping as required by Horizon House and department policy and procedures.
  • Ensure that linen carts in soiled storage room are switched out twice daily and are stored properly.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of soiled kitchen linen.
  • Provide space for and monitor used oil storage.
  • Provide space for empty milk crates for kitchen until picked up by vendors.
  • Store large carts for staff use in storage room; distribute carts as needed to staff, vendors, contractors and residents to facilitate movement of trucks.
  • Call and direct freight elevators as needed.
  • Direct vendors upon arrival at the loading dock.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Computer and data entry experience required.
  • Two-year degree with coursework in business or materials management desired but not required.
  • Basic math proficiency.
  • One (1) year previous experience in purchasing, warehouse or central supply in a health care setting preferred.
